Telecom Offers Free Frequency for one Year Fibji Test, Also free to Service

The government will provide free frequencies to state-owned Nepal Telecom for one year to test Fibji.

Just two weeks ago, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology decided to test Fibji. Accordingly, the Ministry of Communications had directed the Telecommunications Authority to provide frequencies for Fibji.

The Radio Frequency Policy Determination Committee, which met on Monday, has decided to provide free frequencies for one year. Along with this, during the test, the telco will not be allowed to charge any fee from the service provider.

Private sector Ncell, on the other hand, will not be able to get the frequency to test Fibji.

The Telecommunications Authority will decide on the frequency band to be provided for the Fibji test conducted by the telco.

Nepal Telecommunication Authority spokesperson Min Prasad Aryal informed that further steps would be taken only after the NEA board meeting decides to provide frequencies.

He informed that the price of the frequency is being prepared through bidding. According to him, the work of setting other criteria about the service has been taken forward.
