In Hindu scriptures, different times of the day have their own significance. Whether it is the Brahmamuhurta before sunrise or the twilight before sunset, it has its own significance.
Twilight literally means dust coming out of a cow’s hoof. That is, twilight is the time when other animals, including cows, graze and return home. This is the time before sunset.
At dusk, flocks of birds, herds of animals return to their nests and barns. During this time the color of the sun’s rays in the sky becomes light yellow. The average twilight occurs after 6 p.m.
It is also called the confluence of day and night as the twilight occurs before sunset. Therefore, religiously, this time is considered to be the best time for worship. The evening lamp is often worshiped at home at this time.
Twilight is called Mars time in worship as well as in good deeds. If there is no pure devotion at the desired moment of marriage, it is formed at this time. Considering twilight as the best time, there is a ritual in some places to get married at this time.
What to do at dusk? What not to do
- It is believed that one should avoid giving money or loans during twilight.
- As it is believed that Lakshmi will arrive at this time, it is customary not to send money out.
- It is considered best to worship at this time as it is considered to be the best for worship and other rituals.
- It is believed that this thing should not be given even if someone comes to ask for milk or yoghurt at dusk.
- At this time, after worship, the lamp should be lit in the monastery of Tulsi.
- After burning the lamp in the monastery of Tulsi, you should not forget to pick or touch its leaves.
